The Fundación Herpetológica Gustavo Orcés (FHGO) is an Ecuadorian NGO which is celebrating 30 years of work. . With an important trajectory in the field of conservation and research about reptiles and amphibians of Ecuador, it has been an emblematic institution that has contributed with the training of scientists and other professionals in Herpetology. Alongside one of its most iconic projects, Vivarium de Quito, has contributed as adviser for Ecuadorian Environmental Ministry, and has coordinated many actions in collaboration with international organizations like the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). On regard of this celebration, we have joined efforts, and have consolidated and alliance with Universidad de las Américas (UDLA) and the career of Veterinary Medicine to organize the 1st Congress "The Herpetology in America".
The main purpose of this Congress is to diffuse researches and efforts that are being developed in the herpetological field. It is our responsibility to offer a multidisciplinary environment for experts, professionals and students of veterinary medicine, biology, animal management, conservation, biotechnology, environmental education of wildlife worldwide, with emphasis in the American continent.
We are going to have 15 experts (national and international) in the field of Herpetology with at least 30 years of professional experience. This will be the opportunity to exchange ideas, share the best practices, and generate support and collaboration lines. The congress will include oral presentations to show and encourage the study of wildlife as an specialization area with high potential locally and regionally.
The Congress will address several areas: Veterinary Medicine, Biology, Animal Management, Conservation, Biotechnology and Environmental Education.
We will have first-rate specialists from United States, Mexico,
Spain, Costa Rica, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela and Ecuador.
