The Herpetological Foundation Gustavo Orces is a non-profit organization founded on December 1, 1989. This organization works for amphibians and reptiles’ conservation. Since its creation, and through its most iconic project, the Vivarium of Quito, our institution aims to raise environmental awareness about the threats that amphibians and reptiles must face; also, to eliminate fears and misconceptions; and, it provides the unique opportunity to be in touch with the richness of Ecuador’s herpetofauna.
To contribute to Ecuadorian amphibians and reptiles’ conservation through research and environmental education to create environmental awareness through team work and cooperation with other organizations and with the community.
To be a consolidated organization, that leads the research, management and conservation of Ecuadorian herpetofauna, contributing permanently to scientific knowledge and environmental education, involving society and promoting multidisciplinary work.
